Our Story
A foundation built on faith, love, and the courage of one very special little girl.
Our Daughters’ Heart was born from one family’s journey of love, resilience, and unwavering faith.
When our daughter Berkeley was born, she was diagnosed with Ebstein’s Anomaly — a rare congenital heart defect. From her first days, she faced extraordinary medical challenges: spending more than a year and a half in the hospital, enduring countless procedures, and living on mechanical heart support while we prayed and waited for a miracle.
Against all odds, Berkeley received a life-saving heart transplant at Columbia in New York City. Her strength, joy, and determination inspired not only our family, but every member of her care team. Through her journey, we discovered the power of faith, community, and love in the face of unimaginable challenges.
Our Daughters’ Heart was created because of the love that surrounded us during our most difficult days. When Berkeley was in the hospital, our family, friends, and community rallied around us with prayer, encouragement, and acts of kindness that carried us through. We quickly realized that not every family has that kind of support — and that realization inspired us to build a foundation that ensures no one faces those challenges alone.
Families of medically complex children carry an invisible weight — balancing hope and exhaustion, faith and fear. We exist to help lift that weight and stand beside them through long hospital stays, transplant journeys, and the life that follows.
